The riders started the race in Albstadt on a demanding route, with two long uphill stretches. During the trainings they struggled with the big cold and the falling rain or even snow, but on the race day the long-awaited sun appeared.
- The first World Cup race of the season is over and although expectations were higher, the fourteenth place is a good result. I hope that next week in Nove Mesto I will be able to ride much better at the beginning of the race, so I will catch up with the frontrunners from the very beginning. I am satisfied, but hungry for more, so we keep fighting - said Maja Włoszczowska right after the race.
In the men's race Maja's team-mate from the KROSS ORLEN Cycling Team Ondrej Cink took the fourth place. Bartłomiej Wawak was 31st and it was the highest position among the starting Poles.
- This is a good start of the World Cup season for the riders of KROSS ORLEN Cycling Team. I had hoped that Maja and Ondrej would be in the top ten today, Maja was a bit short of that result, but I think that next week in Nove Mesto she will certainly be in the top ten, and Ondrej will fight for the top five again - said Kornel Osicki, Team Manager of KROSS ORLEN Cycling Team.
The KROSS ORLEN Cycling Team is one of the best cycling groups in the world, present on the cycling routes for a decade. Last season the team finished second in the classification of the world MTB ranking. The group includes the elite of world mountain biking.
