THE STORY OF BENJAMIN RADIC

Since I was a little boy, I have liked all kind of sports and I tried as many of them as I could. At primary school, I played tennis and volleyball and when I was good enough to start my career, I was forced to go to the gym to develop strength to prevent injuries.

After some time, I started to like it more than other sports because I was gaining muscles really fast and my physique was changing fast too. Soon, I was bigger and stronger than others of my age.

Because of that experience I decided to leave tennis and start with judo and went to the gym more. After one year of training judo, I broke my leg and I could not do judo for some time. And in that time I was still going to the gym and I was feeling really good there - I was sixteen and my physique was really good and so was my self-esteem.

I went to the gym more for fun than to build my sport career. I really like to push heavy weights to get stronger, I like I can change my body and improve my quality of life.

Soon, I started to help others in the gym - at first just friends - later (because of good results) I got my own clients. So I found a job in a local gym and along with that I got myself a certificate and became a licensed personal trainer.

Time passed by and I still was not interested in competing but I kept training really hard. One day I posted my pictures on some bodybuilding and fitness pages and got a lot of positive reactions and among them, there was also Musclemania that offered me to become sponsored competition athlete. At first, I was not interested in any competitions but - after a few phone calls from USA - I changed my mind. And here I am now with my new challenge to get new experience and to learn more about contest preparations.

Why did you start to use Nutrend products?

I decided to use Nutrend products because of their great quality and fair prices. I like more EU products due to stricter controls of the ingredients.

How do the Nutrend products help you in your sport?

I can manage my trainings better and they also help me with faster regeneration. And they are really tasty as well.

Which is your favorite Nutrend product and which one do you use the most?

There is not just one product that I like to use a lot. I think 100% Whey Isolate with colostrum is one of the greatest protein products in the world.

Diet during the race day is without any doubts important to achieve an outstanding performance. What is your common race-day diet like?

I stick to hi carb - hi protein - low fat diet with creatine, L-Carnitine, BCAA, whey isolate, arginine, vitamin C meal replacement… I get most of carbs from food like brown rice, sweet potato and oatmeal…

How do you prepare yourself for contests? Where and how often do you practice?

In contest preparation, I train 3 times per day. In the morning, I have 40 minutes of cardio session, at midday I go to the gym and have weight training for 1.5 hour and in the evening I have cardio session for 40 minutes again.

What is your common training day like?

Cardio in the morning and in the evening there is time for weights training.

What is your motivation for hard training?

To have better physique and to achieve an outstanding performance in the competition.

Which was the hardest training in your life and why?

I think all my trainings are hard but last month before competition I have always leg training – and this is always the hardest time!

Can you describe your best contest? How did it influence you?

It was definitely Musclemania Europe tour 2012 Paris where I got 1st place in heavy weight. It really affected me a lot because I got motivation for other competitions. And because I won this event I am going to compete in USA with the top world athletes.
