800 cyclists, 30 medals. European Championships starts in Glasgow.

A great idea was realized by organizers of the European Championships in Glasgow this year, during which it will be decided about the title of European continent in six disciplines. The biggest city of Scotland will collect cyclists, triathlonists, golfists, gymnasts, rowers and swimmers.

In the same term a partner championship in Berlin takes place, there the best European athletes will clash.
 
Within the Championships in Glasgow, where also the top Czech cyclists head to, a competiton of 800 cyclist will fight for in total 30 medals. It will be decided in BMX, track, mountain and road cycling disciplines.
  
The programme starts on Thursday August 2nd on Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome, Emirates Arena, with track qualification. Then 5 full days on the track follow, which will be diversifie on August 5th with a road race in
women cathegory with a mass start. On Tuesday August 7th, mountain bikes race takes place in the bike park Cathin Braes Mountain Bike Trails. On Wednesday August 8th starts road cycling with a ride against chronometer on the hard city ring. The following day the programme continues in Glasgow BMX Centre with qualification in BMX discipline, about the medal positions will be decided a day after. Final programme on Sunday August 12th brings road race in men category.
 
Amongst Czech track cyclists you can find for example Tomáš Bábek, Pavel Kelemen, Lucie Hochmann and Sára Kaňkovská. Mountain bikes hopes are given into Jaroslav Kulhavý, Ondřej Cink or Jitka Škarnitzová.
Amongst other road cyclists you can find names such as Zdeněk Štybar, Josef Černý and Jarmila Machačová. Matěj Bohuslávek, Mikuláš Nevrkla or Dominik Topinka will show in BMX discipline.
 
In connection with the European Championships in Glasgow, Festival 2018 takes place, too, which after the Olympic Games, is a cultural enrichment of this remarkable event. The popularity of Glasgow Championship is proved even with the opening ceremony „The Great Big Opening Party“, which is completely sold out.
In the Czech Republic it is possible to watch the Championships from August 2nd to 12th on Eurosport TV station.
